Lady Owls Shut Out Eastern Soccer

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women's soccer team fell at Oregon Tech Saturday in Cascade Collegiate Conference play, 2-0.

After a scoreless first half, OIT scored twice in the second half to even its conference record at 3-3 (5-6-1 overall) and also moved into a tie for fourth place and a playoff position with the win. Eastern Oregon slips to 1-4-1 in the CCC and 3-8-1 overall with the loss.

Oregon Tech broke through in the 55th minute when Rebekah Nisbet struck a shot from 20 yards out that hit the right goal post.  A.J. Castle then took the rebound and chipped it in for the 1-0 lead.

Meghan Drost scored her league leading 8th goal of the year in the 67th minute taking a perfect cross from Brandi King that sent the ball right in front of the EOU goal. Drost got a quick touch on the ball to score at point blank range.

For the game Oregon Tech held a huge 19-8 advantage in shots and a 8-5 edge in shots on goal. The Lady Owls also had a big 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Tech Keeper Rebekah Matteri was credited with the shutout, grabbing five saves with EOU Keeper Chantal Schefers picking up the loss having saved six shots.

Oregon Tech will next face College of Idaho on Monday at 1 p.m. at Trevor Derrah Field. Eastern Oregon will also next play Monday at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Ore.
