EOU Indoor Track Begins This Weekend

NAMPA, Idaho – The Eastern Oregon University track and field teams open its 2011 season at Jacksons Invitational/New Balance West Invite Friday.

The Mountaineers begin their indoor season at the Jacksons Indoor Track complex at the Idaho Center. This weekend's meet is hosted by Boise State University and will feature several large schools. Collegiate competitors include UNLV, BYU, Utah State, Eastern Washington, Lewis-Clark State, Northwest Nazarene, The College of Idaho, Whitworth, Central Washington, Eastern Oregon and Treasure Valley Community College.

Local area high school athletes will compete in the meet, many under club teams such as the YMCA Team Idaho, Teekay Track Club and as unattached athletes. The Bronco Track Club is also slated to compete.

The meet is slated for an 11:30 a.m. start on Friday, while Saturday's events are planned to begin at 9 a.m. The multi-events will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, with individual field events beginning at 4 p.m. and track events starting at 5:15 p.m. On Saturday both track and field events begin at 9 a.m., with the meet winding down at 4:15 with the high school 4x400-meter relays.

The following Mountaineers will be making the trip to Nampa to compete, Talissa Baldovino, Anne Barnett, Christine Eckstein, Allison Escobar, Alma Garcilazo, Sarah Hanchett, Laura Hansen, Ashlee Michelson, Kimmy Moore, Allison Rodgers, Brittany Sims, Ryan Booth, Brian Bragg, Dustin Cloud, Kody Coxen, Justin Dean, DJ Flores, Robbie Haynie, Jason Hendricks, Carson Hendryx, Hans Rolle, and Jake Wilcox.
