LA GRANDE, Ore. -- The latest edition of the game notes for Eastern Oregon University women's basketball is available now. The Mountaineers travel to Northwest Christian University and Corban University Friday and Saturday.

THE SERIES
* Eastern Oregon has never lost to Northwest Christian, 6-0 all-time.
* The average score in the six games has been 71-53 in EOU's favor.
* Only two ganes have been decided by under 10 points.
* The last meeting was a nine-point victory for the Mountaineers.
* Corban and Eastern met in the CCC tournament in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2010.
* Eastern Oregon was 3-1 in those games and 30-14 all-time over the Warriors.
* The Mountaineers are 11-3 against Corban since 2000.
* EOU has won seven straight games over CU, since a 59-58 Warriors win on Feb. 26, 2007, at EOU.

ABOUT THE BEACONS
Northwest Christian (5-12, 1-6) upset a nationally-ranked foe for the second-straight year, ending a seven-game losing streak with a 65-60 victory at Concordia. NCU, who is just 1-6 at home this season, has a balanced scoring attack (seven different leading scorers this year), paced by Sheena Alexander (12. 3 ppg, 3.7 rpg), Hope Williams (11.9 ppg, 8.2 rpg), and Lori Renner (9.3 ppg, 3.9 rpg). The Beacons are looking for their first win over Eastern Oregon ever Friday.

ABOUT THE WARRIORS

Terry Williams' squad has played well in the C.E. Jeffers Center this season, recording a perfect 5-0 mark (including four wins by 20-or-more points) and can score at will, averaging 74 points per game – but they allow 74 points a night. Player of the Year candidate, Katie Steigleman (20.7 ppg, 5.6 rpg) has led the team in scoring in nine-straight games, while being complimented by forward Tess Bennett (13.2 ppg, 7.1 rpg) and guard Janessa Miller (11.0 ppg, 6.4 rpg). The Warriors are 13th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game (15.9).

LAST TIME OUT
The College of Idaho women's basketball team claimed the I-84 Cup with a 57-53 win over No. 20 Eastern Oregon University. The Lady Yotes (10-7) (5-2) won their sixth straight game over Eastern Oregon. A late steal and basket from Katelin Shannon gave The C of I the lead for good, as the Lady Yotes ended on a 9-0 run. Hurliman scored a game-high 19 points. The sophomore was 6 of 17 from the field and 5 for 13 from behind the perimeter. Guthrie scored 11 points and added a game-high 7 rebounds. Flett and Miller each threw four assists. The Mountaineers shot 33 percent from the field and 26 percent from three-point range. EOU entered the game ranked second in NAIA Div. 2 shooting 40 percent from behind the arc, but it was 7 of 26.

NEW START TIMES FOR 2010-11
A new doubleheader format featuring men's and women's teams alternating time slots in conference play headlines the release of the 2010-11 Cascade Collegiate Conference men's and women's basketball schedules, CCC commissioner Dave Haglund announced. The first half concludes Jan. 15; the second half runs from Jan. 21 to Feb. 19. The CCC recently voted to modify the structure of its conference doubleheaders, which historically have featured the women playing at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men at 7:30 p.m. Beginning with the upcoming campaign, genders will split the two time slots. In the first half of conference play in 2010-11, men will play at 5:30 p.m. and women at 7:30 p.m.; in the second half, the genders will flip time slots. Men's and women's teams will flip their playing orders on a yearly basis.

LONG DISTANCE SPECIALISTS

The Mountaineers are third in the nation in three-point percentage shooting 39 percent from behind the perimeter. EOU is seventh in NAIA Div. 2 holding opponents to 26 percent shooting from behind the arc. Eastern has won its games by an average of 16.5 points. Eastern Oregon is averaging 9.5 three-pointers per game, which is fifth in NAIA Div. 2. Nicole Redd and Shaylee Nielsen are 11th and 15th in the country in three-point field goal percentage. Kelsea Hurliman is 24th in the same stat category.

UNSELFISH MOUNTIES

Eastern is 10th in NAIA Div. 2 averaging 17.3 assists per game. The Mountaineers have dished out 277 assists this year. EOU has a turnover margin of +3.25 and is eighth in the country in assist to turnover ratio. Kyle Miller is 18th in the country in assist to turnover margin.

DEADLY DEFENSE

Eastern has stymied its opponents in 2010-11. Only two opponents have shot over 50 percent from the field in a game versus the Mountaineers. It's No. 7 NAIA Div. 2 defense from behind the perimeter highlights the EOU defensive honors. Eastern is first in three-point defense field goal percentage (.269), second in the conference in points allowed per game (57.9) and field goal percentage defense (.365), and is third in defensive rebounds (28.2).

BACK IN NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT

The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team returned to the NAIA Div. 2 Top 25 this season, but are currently unranked. EOU was last in the poll at No. 24 on Feb. 27, 2008. The Mountaineers moved as high as No. 20 this season.Eastern was one spot from cracking the top 25 poll last season on Jan. 11, 2010. It was the highest they appeared in the poll. Concordia was the only other Cascade Collegiate Conference team in the poll at No. 18.
