KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- The Eastern Oregon volleyball team won its sixth match of the season Saturday with a 3-2 victory over Oregon Tech.
The Mountaineers' (6-3) (3-1)
Kaitlyn Duncan finished the match with 44 digs, and helped EOU win a back-and-forth battle over the Lady Owls, 20-25, 25-18, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12. Duncan's 44 digs is the most at EOU since record-keeping began in volleyball in 1992.
Eastern also got a big night from
Jessica Lea. The junior had 26 assists, 17 kills, and 11 digs.
Irene Walters and
Katie Keeney added 14 and 10 kills, and
Emily Sampson finished with 24 assists. Walters also had 16 digs and
Leigh Anne MacCarthy had 13 digs.
Tech's Megan Christensen came away with a match-high 18 kills, followed by outside hitter Kristen Walters with 14. Mikayla Morgan and Mindy Rencher combined for 15 kills in the loss, with Morgan adding 14 kills, a solo block and five block assists. Sarah Svedin totaled 41 assists, five kills and two aces while assisting on four blocks. Hannah Brewster tallied a team-high 22 digs, with Bridget Harrison adding 15 and Kayleigh Whelchel 10 for the Owls.
Eastern Oregon travels to Walla Walla University Monday for a 7:30 p.m. match. The Mountaineers swept WWU on Aug. 30 in La Grande. EOU returns to conference play Friday at home against Concordia University.
