LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Warner Pacific College women's basketball team held off an Eastern Oregon University rally to upset the No. 20 Mountaineers Friday, 67-62.

The Knights (7-7) (2-3) snapped a four-game losing streak with victory. WPC also won its third straight game in Quinn Coliseum. The victory also avenged a buzzer-beating defeat last New Year's Eve in Portland to Eastern.

Cameryn Calhoun scored a game-high 21 points to lead Warner Pacific. She finished 8 of 16 from the field and 5 for 9 from three-point range. Katie Smith added 17 points and Kelsey Mattsen had 16 points. Smith and Miranda Holenstein each had eight rebounds. Holenstein added nine assists.

The Mountaineers opened with an 8-2 advantage at the 17:48 mark, its largest lead of the game. The Knights responded with a 20-4 run and would not surrender the lead. WPC led by as many as 11 points in the first twice, and had a 37-27 lead at halftime. A Calhoun three-pointer gave Warner Pacific its largest lead of the game with 12:29 left in regulation, 54-36.

It was the second straight night Eastern fell behind by 18 points and had a rally fall short. EOU came as close as two points in the final minutes of play, but could not even the score or take the lead. Against Concordia University Thursday, the Mountaineers fell behind by 18 points with six minutes left in the game before closing the margin to three points. Earlier this season in Quinn Coliseum, Eastern Oregon was behind Montana Western by 22 points before cutting the lead to two points, but fell by five points.

Eastern (11-4) (3-3) lost two straight games at home for the first time since Dec. 9 and Dec. 10, 2005 when it lost to Rocky Mountain College and Montana Western. Kyle Miller led EOU with 17 points and Alyssa Garro had 11 points. The Mountaineers were held to 25 percent shooting from behind the arc (8-31) and 35 percent from the field.

Warner Pacific shot 8 of 15 from three-point range, and 53 percent from the field. Entering the week EOU had not allowed an opponent to shoot 50 percent from the field, and both opponents this week have. Eastern Oregon was outrebounded 34-26. The Knights committed 24 turnovers, while the Mountaineers had 12.

Eastern Oregon travels to The College of Idaho (9-7) (4-2) Friday for its next game. The Lady Yotes fell in a battle with Concordia University Friday, 69-66. It was the second straight night No. 15 Concordia won by three points on the road.
