Gall Paces College of Idaho Win Over Western

BOX SCORE

LA GRANDE, Ore. -- Nicole Gall scored ten of her game-high 21 points in a 17-2 run to open the contest, as the Lady Yotes won their third-straight game, 78-61, over Montana Western, in the third game of the 2010 Aramark Holiday Classic.

The No. 19 ranked Lady Yotes (4-2) hit seven of their first eight shots on the night, as back-to-back treys by Gall broke a 2-2 tie, as The C of I pushed the lead to 21-5 just six minutes into the contest – with the lead never falling below double-digits the rest of the night.

Gall a career-high nine assists and five rebounds in the win, with Dayna Drager adding 15 points and six rebounds for the Yotes. Nicole Bruce and Katelin Shannon each scored 13 in the win.

The Bulldogs (4-3) got 16 points from Chloe Mosey and 14 points from Roxanne Thurman in the loss, their second to The C of I in seven days. Western hit 54-percent of their field goal attempts, but was plagued by 33 turnovers.

The C of I returns home next weekend, hosting the Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic – featuring Westminster, George Fox, and Whitworth.

Gall's 50 points in the pair of classic games is two points shy of the classic record set by Tiffany Speer of Whitman College in 2004. But it does put her in second in the statistical category. Gall did break the three-pointers made in the tournament record with 10. The previous record was set by Megan Schmitz of Montana Western in 2005 with eight. Western drops to 6-2 in the classic, while C of I improves to 6-3.
