Yotes Rout Walla Walla in Opening Game of Holiday Classic

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The College of Idaho women eased past Walla Walla University in the opening game of the 2010 Aramark Holiday Classic Friday, 92-22.

The Yotes (3-2) were fueled by 29 points from Nicole Gall and 26 points by Dayna Drager. Gall was 11 of 17 from the field, including 6 of 11 from behind the perimeter. Drager was 10 of 14, including 5 of 6 from three-point range. She added a game-high seven rebounds. Lexi Kappel had 12 points off of the bench for The College of Idaho.

Nicke Parks led Walla Walla (1-7) with 11 points and four rebounds. Sierra King led the Wolves with five rebounds.

College of Idaho's Diamond Mitchell had a game-high six assists. The Yotes finished with 27 assists, compared to WWU's five. Walla Walla turned the ball over 35 times, while C of I committed 18 turnovers.

The Wolves shot 29 percent from the field, on 10 of 34 shooting, and missed all three of their shots from behind the arc. College of Idaho shot 58 percent for three-pointers (14-24), and finished 60 percent from the field (37-61).

The teams only shot a combined 11 free throws in the game. C of I was 4 for 8, and Walla Walla was 2 of 3. Gall, last year's tournament MVP has now scored 50 points in her two games at the Holiday Classic.

The College of Idaho improves to 5-3 all-time at the Holiday Classic, while WWU drops to 0-3. The Yotes will face Montana Western in the third game of the classic Saturday at 4 p.m. Walla Walla will play the host, Eastern Oregon University, at 6 p.m. in the fourth and final game of the 2010 edition of the classic.
