LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team pulled away from Corban College Saturday, 63-52.
The Mountaineers (13-6) (7-2) were led by a double-double performance from
Tana Stickney. The senior had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and was 4 for 10 from the field. It was Stickney's fifth double-double in her EOU career, and third of the season.
Shaylee Nielsen added 12 points for EOU, and
Kyle Miller finished with 11 points off of the bench.
The Warriors shot 35 percent from the field, while Eastern was 33 percent. Both teams turned the ball over 12 times, but EOU had 15 assists and Corban finished with 12.
Corban had its largest lead of five points with 12:41 remaining in the first half. The Mountaineers took the lead back and took a 24-17 lead at halftime.
A night after breaking the school record for three-pointers made in a game, Eastern made 10 three pointers and shot 45 percent from behind the perimeter. EOU shot 57 percent Friday night from three-point range.
Eastern Oregon and Corban met for the 20th time since 2000. The Mountaineers have won nine out of the 12 meetings in La Grande. EOU holds a 28-14 lead over the Warriors all-time.
The Mountaineers are tied atop the conference at the halfway point of the conference season. Northwest Christian defeated No. 20 The College of Idaho Saturday, 66-65, in Caldwell, Idaho.
Eastern travels to Klamath Falls to play Oregon Tech Friday at 5:30 p.m. The game will be video streamed through CCC TV. Live stats will also be available for the game.
