EOU Women Ease Past Willamette

Mountaineers are paced by Garro's 18 points

LA GRANDE, Ore. -- The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team cruised past Willamette University Saturday, 69-39.

The Mountaineers (4-1) picked up the victory in the second and final game of the 5th annual Aramark Holiday Classic. Alyssa Garro paced EOU with 18 points. The junior finished 7 for 12 from the field, including 4 of 9 from behind the arc, and was named to the All-tournament team.

Freshman Kelsea Hurliman added 13 points for Eastern, hitting three of her 7 three-pointers. The Mountaineers were 11 for 40 from behind the perimeter, and shot 35 percent from the field total.

The Bearcats were led by All-tournament selection, Alex Zennan's, 12 points. Kailiegh Westermann chipped in 10 rebounds for Willamette (0-2).

Eastern Oregon stretched from a 25-17 lead at halftime, to a quick 20-point lead early in the second half. EOU had 21 assists to Willamette's six. The Mountaineers outrebounded WU, 61-49.

Eastern plays in the first game at the Lady 'Yote Classic Friday against Puget Sound. EOU's next home game will be Dec. 18, against Southern Oregon.
