BUTTE, Mont. -- The Eastern Oregon University men's basketball team fell deep behind Montana Tech at the final game of the Copper Cage Classic before falling, 75-59.
The host of the two-day classic, Orediggers, jumped out to a 30-11 after a Brian Davison three-pointer. EOU finished shooting 36 percent from the field, after shooting 29 percent in the first half.
Jordan Lupfer-Graham scored a team-high 12 points for the Mountaineers. The freshman was 4 for 6 from the field.
Thomas McCarthy added 11 points for Eastern.
Dean Colbray led Montana Tech with 15 points. Davison had 13, Dirk Anderson added 12, Shawn Brooks finished with 11, and AJ Paine chipped in 10 for the Orediggers. Tech was 22 for 44 from the field, including 10 of 15 from behind the perimeter.
This game was a complete contrast to the result on Nov. 7 in La Grande when the Mountaineers won, 69-42. Eastern Oregon travels to Lewiston, Idaho Friday for the Cannon's Building Materials tournament. They will play Lewis-Clark State Friday and Montana State-Northern Saturday.
