EOU Stuns Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls

The Mountaineers move to 3-0 in conference play

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- The Eastern Oregon University soccer team won its third consecutive match Friday with a 1-0 victory at Oregon Tech.

The Hustlin' Owls entered the contest 8-1 after winning its first seven games. The Mountaineers began the season 0-4, but are now 3-4 after three straight conference victories.

Kalah Minter converted on a penalty kick in the 74th minute in what was a defensive showcase. Eastern's Allison Seymour made six saves in the contest. The Owls shot 11 times compared to the Mountaineers four. Tech had six shots on goal and EOU had two.

OIT finished the game with nine corner kicks, while the Mountaineers had three. But Eastern Oregon won the game and is now tied for the conference lead after three matches.

EOU's Lori Wilson had two shots and Courtney Gaskell and Minter had one shot in the match. The Mountaineer defense has allowed only one goal in its last two matches.

Eastern travels to Ashland Saturday to face Southern Oregon at 3 p.m. EOU has six games remaining in the regular season with two home games left next week against Corban and Northwest Christian.
