Eastern Oregon University Athletics

Josh Goodman has been a part of the Eastern Oregon University soccer program since 2019 and will enter his fourth season as Head Coach of the Mountaineers’ Women’s Soccer team in 2025. After joining the staff as a volunteer assistant, he spent three seasons as an assistant coach before taking over as head coach in the spring of 2023.

In his first season leading the Mountaineers in 2023, Goodman guided the team to an impressive 10-4-4 overall record and a 7-3-2 mark in conference play, earning a fourth-place finish in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC). Under his leadership, EOU qualified for the CCC Tournament and won Goodman’s first playoff match in a penalty kick shootout against Oregon Tech. His players collected several postseason honors, including three All-Conference selections and Darby McDevitt being named the 2023-24 CCC Champion of Character of the Year.

Before taking over as head coach, Goodman spent four seasons (2019–2022) as an assistant coach, helping the Mountaineers achieve a combined record of 48-10-8. During that span, EOU captured a CCC Tournament Championship in 2019 and made two appearances in the NAIA National Tournament.

A former Mountaineer himself, Goodman played two seasons for the EOU Men’s Soccer team after transferring from Victor Valley College, where he was a two-time All-Conference selection and Conference Player of the Year. At EOU, he earned Second-Team All-Conference honors and helped the men’s team qualify for the conference tournament for the first time in program history.

Originally from Apple Valley, California, Goodman earned his Bachelor’s degree in English/Writing from Eastern Oregon University in 2019 and his Master’s degree in Education in 2021. His experience as a student-athlete at both the junior college and NAIA levels has shaped his player-centered coaching philosophy, emphasizing academic excellence, athletic development, and character growth.
