Oscar Alegria returns to Eastern Oregon University as assistant coach after establishing himself as one of the rising young coaches in the Pacific Northwest collegiate soccer landscape. A former Mountaineer student-athlete, Alegria brings collegiate playing experience, head coaching experience, and a championship pedigree to the EOU men's soccer program.
Prior to joining the Mountaineers' coaching staff, Alegria served at Blue Mountain Community College, where he held roles as assistant coach, co-head coach, and head coach of the men's soccer program. During his tenure, he helped develop student-athletes both on and off the field while building a competitive NWAC program. His leadership, recruiting efforts, and player development philosophy contributed to the continued growth and success of the Timberwolves program.
Alegria's coaching journey followed a successful collegiate playing career that began at Los Angeles Mission College, where he competed during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. After earning all-conference recognition and establishing himself as a standout defender, he transferred to Eastern Oregon University. In 2019, he played a key role on the Mountaineers squad, helping EOU earn a berth in the NAIA National Championship Tournament while competing against some of the top programs in the country.
A native of Southern California, Alegria enjoyed a decorated youth soccer career before entering the collegiate ranks. He was a member of the prestigious Cal South Olympic Development Program (ODP) 97 team and was part of a historic group that captured both Regional and National ODP Championships. As a member of the 2014 Cal South ODP National Championship team, he helped complete one of the most successful runs in the organization's history. His youth career also included competition with several elite Southern California clubs, including LA Premier FC, Real So Cal, LAFC Chelsea, and Golden State FC.
Known for his defensive expertise, tactical understanding of the game, and ability to build meaningful relationships with student-athletes, Alegria has developed strong recruiting connections throughout the Pacific Northwest and Southern California. His experience as both a former collegiate player and collegiate head coach allows him to mentor players from a unique perspective while helping them navigate the demands of academics, athletics, and personal growth.
As a Mountaineer alumnus, Alegria takes pride in returning to Eastern Oregon and contributing to the continued success of the program that helped shape his collegiate experience. His commitment to player development, competitive excellence, and the student-athlete experience makes him a valuable member of the EOU men's soccer coaching staff.
