Jared Barrett

Jared Barrett enters his third year as the helm of Eastern Oregon men’s basketball program.

During his first season as head coach, Barrett led the Mountaineers to a 16-13 record and a 7-11 mark in Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play. He also notched one first-team all-conference player. 
 
Prior to coming to EOU, Barrett spent one year as an Assistant Coach with Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah. While at Southern Utah, Barrett worked as a recruiter and on-the-floor coach, with scouting and game preparation. He also handled the scheduling for the Thunderbirds.

Before joining the Southern Utah staff, Barrett spent three years at Washington State University as the Coordinator of Basketball Operations. He was responsible for executing summer camps, coordinating team travel and overseeing student-athlete academics.

Prior to his team at Washington State, Barrett was the top Assistant Coach at Utah Valley University for two years. At Utah Valley he served as the guards' position coach, while working on scheduling, recruiting and on-the-floor coaching.

Before joining the staff at Utah Valley, Barrett served as an assistant coach at Sacramento State for six years. He was the top assistant his final three years with the Hornets. While at Sacramento State, Barrett oversaw game scheduling and on-floor coaching, as well as assisting with the instruction of the team's guards. He also prepared scouting reports for the games.

Barrett began his coaching career at EOU as the Junior Varsity Coach from 1998-2000. While as the Junior Varsity coach, Barrett implemented the team's playbook, conducted tryouts and scheduled games. He was also responsible for the school's youth basketball camps and served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach.

In his playing days, Barrett was a two-sport athlete at Olympic College. At Olympic, he was an all-league baseball player and competed in basketball. From Olympic College, Barrett moved on to play at EOU, where he was the team's most valuable player following the 1996-97 season.

Barrett is a native of Rexburg, Idaho and earned his Bachelor's Degree from the Eastern Oregon University in Physical Education and Health.
