EUGENE, Ore. — Eastern Oregon University (RV) Men's Soccer battled Bushnell University to a scoreless 0-0 draw Saturday night.
The Mountaineers created the first quality opportunity of the night when
Christian Samayoa tested Bushnell goalkeeper Aaron Lowry in the third minute, but Lowry made the save. Bushnell answered moments later, with
Victor Melendez turning aside a shot from Joan Remo Morales. Neither side was able to break through during the opening 45 minutes. EOU finished the first half with two shots, while Bushnell managed just one, sending the match into halftime still scoreless.
The Mountaineers increased the pressure after the break.
Lance Nelson forced another save from Lowry, while
Austin Turner created a dangerous chance that resulted in a team save by Bushnell. EOU continued to push forward late in the match. Nelson delivered three corner kicks in the final 20 minutes, while
Davyd Fedina narrowly missed on a 72nd-minute header.
Armando Castro also had a shot blocked in the 81st minute as the Mountaineers searched for the breakthrough. Despite the late pressure, Bushnell's defense held firm and neither team found the back of the net.
EOU finished with a 6-3 advantage in shots and put three attempts on target. The Mountaineers also earned all three of the match's corner kicks, while Bushnell was held without a corner.
Nelson led the Mountaineers with two shots, including one on target, while Turner also recorded two shots. Samayoa and
Lance Nelson each put one attempt on frame.
The Mountaineers will look to add a win next Friday, October 2nd as they return home to face College of Idaho at 6:30 p.m. PT.
