Late Run Powers No. 15 EOU Past Northwest

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The No. 15 Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team held firm at home Saturday afternoon, earning an 86–77 victory over Northwest University inside Quinn Coliseum. Four Mountaineers finished in double figures, highlighted by Kelsie Siegner's 10th double-double of the season.

The contest remained tightly contested throughout, with Northwest narrowly controlling the game early. However, Eastern Oregon's defensive intensity in the final quarter proved decisive, as the Mounties clamped down late and surged ahead to secure the win.

After a back-and-forth opening quarter, Eastern Oregon held a slim one-point advantage as both teams struggled to find a rhythm offensively. Shooting improved in the second quarter, with each side connecting at a 50%. The Mounties knocked down two additional three-pointers, but Northwest capitalized at the free-throw line to take a narrow two-point edge and a one-point lead into halftime.

Northwest continued its momentum in the third quarter, shooting 10-of-16 from the field and knocking down seven three-pointers. Eastern Oregon responded by shooting 7-of-14 and hitting four from beyond the arc, but the Eagles' hot shooting extended their lead to six heading into the final frame.

The fourth quarter belonged to the Mountaineers. Eastern Oregon turned up the defensive pressure, holding Northwest to just 3-of-15 shooting and zero three-pointers in the period. On the offensive end, the Mounties remained efficient, going on an 11–0 run to build a 15-point advantage. Eastern Oregon closed out the game strong to seal the 86–77 victory.

Maggie Smith led the Mounties with 19 points, knocking down three three-pointers while adding seven rebounds and providing energy on both ends of the floor. Kelsie Siegner recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds, along with five blocks and a steal. Kali Kast contributed 17 points and six rebounds, while Makayla Torkornoo added 15 points, including five makes from beyond the arc.

Ellie Bost paced the Eagles with 20 points, five rebounds, and a steal, hitting four three-pointers, while Jersey McGehee added 19 points, five rebounds, and a steal with five makes from deep.

Eastern Oregon returns to action on Friday, February 13, traveling to Eugene, Oregon, to face Bushnell University at 3:00 p.m.
