MONMOUTH, Ore. – Eastern Oregon women's soccer dropped its first match of the 2025 season Thursday afternoon, falling 2-0 to NCAA Division II opponent Central Washington at WOU Turf Field. The loss moves the Mountaineers to 3-1-1 overall.
Despite outpacing the Wildcats in corner kicks (8-4) and nearly matching them in total shots (7-5), EOU was unable to find the back of the net. Ashley Smith led the Mountaineers with two shots and one on goal, while Peyton Jacaway recorded EOU's other shot on target late in the second half.
Central Washington opened the scoring in the 26th minute on a goal by Jaylee Reynolds. EOU trailed just 1-0 at halftime. In the 72nd minute, Emma Barrett doubled CWU's advantage with a strike that sealed the result.
Goalkeeper Rylee Schei kept Eastern Oregon within reach, making three saves on five shots.
The Mountaineers will look ahead to Saturday, Sept. 13, as they face Western Oregon at 2:30 p.m. back in Monmouth at WOU Soccer Field.
