LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon women's soccer team continued its dominant start to the 2025 campaign with a commanding 4-0 victory over Doane University on Friday morning at Community Stadium. With the win, the Mountaineers improved to 2-0-0 and made program history by opening a season with back-to-back 4-0 shutouts for the first time ever.
EOU wasted no time setting the tone. The Mounties fired 13 shots in the first half and converted four of them into goals to build a lead. Joslyn Sizemore opened the scoring in the 14th minute—her first of the season. Just over a minute later, Peyton Jacaway found the back of the net off a feed from Karina DeYoung to double the lead.
Eastern Oregon continued to pour it on with an unassisted goal from Siena Salazar in the 29th minute and a strike by Macy Reed just before halftime in the 45th minute. It was also Reed's first of the season.
The Mounties' attack showed well, outshooting Doane 20-4 and placing 11 shots on goal. In goal, Madeline Barker and Rylee Schei split time for EOU, combining for the team's second consecutive shutout. Schei made the only save required in the first half.
Doane (1-1-1) managed just one shot on goal and four total shots, despite earning four corner kicks. Goalkeeper Virginia Johnson faced heavy pressure throughout, tallying seven saves on the day.
Eastern Oregon will look to extend its run as the Mounties continue non-conference play next Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Community Stadium when they host Park-Gilbert University.
