SAN ANTONIO – No. 2 seeded Eastern Oregon softball opened the 2025 NAIA Opening Round with a 3-2 win over No. 3 seed Middle Georgia State on Monday afternoon, snapping the Knights' 27-game win streak at The Depot at the CAST.
The Mountaineers (33-9) leaned on another dominant performance from Kylie Parsons, who improved to 18-0 with a complete game effort. The right-hander allowed just four hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out eight and walking one across seven innings.
Eastern Oregon struck first in the second inning when Emily Barry launched a solo home run to left. The Mountaineers added two more in the third—Barry delivered a sacrifice fly to score Raygun Klippert, and Madison Olson followed with an RBI single to bring in Katelynn Evans.
Middle Georgia State (42-6) mounted a comeback in the sixth, scoring twice on a bases-loaded walk and a fielder's choice, but Parsons retired the side in order in the seventh to secure the win.
Olson went 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Barry finished with two RBIs on a home run and sac fly. Klippert added two hits and a run scored to pace the offense.
Eastern Oregon advances to face top-seeded and host Our Lady of the Lake University on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. CT / 8:00 a.m. PT.
