LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women's lacrosse team put up a strong effort but fell to Whitman College on Wednesday evening, 19-2, at Community Stadium.
The Mountaineers faced a tough challenge against the Blues, who opened the game with a dominant first quarter, scoring six goals while holding EOU scoreless. Eastern Oregon responded in the second quarter with goals from Jade McCoy and Claire Bever, but Whitman maintained control, leading 9-2 at halftime.
Whitman was led by Sarah Hawkins, who tallied a game-high five goals, while Ellie Milesi added four. Gracie Maulik contributed three goals and an assist, helping the Blues secure the victory.
Eastern Oregon struggled offensively, recording 10 total shots with only four on goal. Defensively, the Mountaineers battled hard, collecting 12 ground balls and securing nine draw controls. Goalkeeper's Red Pratt and Claire Bever each tallied six goals throughout the contest.
EOU will look to regroup as they prepare for their next matchup against Northwest Nazarene on April 5th in Nampa.
