FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon women's lacrosse opened the 2025 season with a hard-fought battle against Pacific University, ultimately falling 17-10 on Saturday afternoon.
Despite a strong offensive effort from Sophia Martinez, Claire Bever, and Jade McCoy, who each recorded three goals, the Mountaineers (0-1) were unable to overcome the Boxers (2-0), who controlled possession for much of the contest.
Pacific jumped out to an early lead, outscoring EOU 4-1 in the opening quarter. The Boxers extended their advantage with a seven-goal second quarter, carrying an 11-5 lead into halftime.
EOU fought back in the second half, limiting the Boxers to six goals while outscoring Pacific 4-2 in the final period.
Goalkeeper Addi Bomberger registered nine saves for the Mountaineers while facing 32 total shots from Pacific. The Boxers were led by Sarah Quade, who finished with a game-high six goals, while Jasmyn Zimmerman and Ellena Willingham added four apiece.
Eastern Oregon will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon against Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
