Allen Stands Out at Chukar Duals, as Mounties Go 1-2 On the Weekend

ONTARIO, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers wrapped up the first half of their season with a tri-dual meet at Treasure Valley Community College on Saturday morning. The Mounties finished with a 1-2 record on the day, defeating Linfield University in a dominant 41-6 victory, but falling to Pacific University 27-22 and the host team, Treasure Valley 30-26.

At 110 pounds, Nia Avelino began her day with a forfeit win against Linfield. Despite falling to Pacific's Taylen Babas-Masuno in her second match, Avelino ended the day on a high note, securing a 10-0 technical fall victory over Treasure Valley's Deci Aye.

Isabella Coronado turned in an impressive performance at 124 pounds, stepping up one weight class from her usual 117-pound division. After securing a forfeit win over Linfield, Coronado dominated the competition with a 10-0 technical fall victory over Pacific University's Fera Thomas. She then capped off the day with an 11-0 technical fall against Treasure Valley's Elena Flores.

Telsarina Walter also had a successful outing, competing up at 117 pounds. After earning a forfeit win over Linfield, Walter cruised to a 14-2 technical fall victory over Pacific's Zoe Vickers. She wrapped up her day with an impressive 1:43 pin over TVCC's Gracie Stickland.

Mackayla Bonham, also wrestling up a division at 138 pounds, finished with a 2-1 record. She began the day with a decisive 9-0 win over Linfield's Cadence Fineran. Although Bonham suffered a loss to Pacific's Adurey Dias, she quickly bounced back to end the day with a dominant 10-0 technical fall in just 40 seconds over TVCC's Jaliyah McGhee.

Paige Allen was the standout of the day, going a perfect 3-0 at 145 pounds. Allen dominated her opponents, starting with a 10-0 technical fall over Linfield's Klaira Flatt. She then continued her dominance with a 12-0 technical fall in the first period against TVCC's Kisten Elbek. To top off her impressive performance, Allen made quick work of Pacific's Isabella Renner, pinning her in just 15 seconds.

The Mountaineers showed strong individual performances across the board, but the team ultimately fell short in the overall standings.

Looking ahead, Eastern Oregon Women's Wrestling will return to action on January 4th, kicking off the new year at the Mat Cat Open in McMinnville, Oregon, hosted by Linfield University.
