CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday night that the No. 23-ranked Eastern Oregon University men's soccer team has been named the Under Armour Team of the Week following a historic performance.
The Mountaineers etched their names into the record books on Saturday, Nov. 1, capturing the CCC Regular-Season Championship and completing an unbeaten conference run (10-0-2) for the first time in program history. EOU heads into the CCC Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed, backed by a defense that's been dominant all season—allowing a program-best 48 shots on goal, tied with RV Carroll College for the fewest in the league.
Eastern Oregon capped its remarkable regular season with two dominant road victories, outscoring Northwest University and The Evergreen State College by a combined 9-1.
The Mounties opened the weekend with a commanding 6-0 win over Northwest on Friday, with five different players scoring—highlighted by two goals from
Milton Hernandez. The defense was impenetrable, limiting Northwest to just one shot while generating a 23-1 shot advantage.
EOU clinched the championship on Saturday with a 3-1 victory over Evergreen.
Anthony Macedo led the way with a goal and an assist,
Marcos Bravo netted his 10th goal of the season, and
Daniel Kropf sealed the win from the penalty spot. Once again, the Mountaineers controlled play, outshooting the Geoducks 19-6.
As the postseason begins, Eastern Oregon ranks tied for the conference lead in shots per game (16.9) and second in total goals (40). The Mountaineers will open the CCC Championship Tournament as the top seed, facing No. 8 seed Bushnell University at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 8, at Lithia & Driveway Fields in Medford, Oregon.
