Eastern Oregon Transitions Leadership in Football Program

LA GRANDE, Ore. – After eighteen seasons leading the Eastern Oregon University football program, longtime Head Coach Tim Camp will be stepping aside as the university begins a transition in leadership, Athletic Director Anji Weissenfluh announced.

Since taking over in 2008, Camp compiled an overall record of 91–96, guiding Eastern Oregon to national relevance within the NAIA and the Frontier Conference. Throughout his tenure, he coached more than 100 All-Conference selections, produced seven Conference Players of the Year, and guided numerous Mountaineers who earned NAIA All-American and Player of the Week recognition. His most successful season came in 2016, when the Mountaineers finished 10-3 overall and 8-2 in conference, marking the best year in program history. That year, EOU placed second overall behind Montana Tech, secured its first-ever postseason berth with the No. 4 at-large bid, and advanced to the NAIA FCS Semifinals. The Mounties closed the season ranked No. 4 nationally.

" Over the past two decades, Coach Camp has elevated this program in countless ways. He departs as the all-time winningest coach in our school's history, but even more importantly, as a leader who consistently recruited young men of strong character and guided this program with integrity. The culture and standards he established have had a lasting impact on our student-athletes, our department, the university, and the community we serve. We are deeply grateful for his dedication and the legacy he leaves behind. We wish Coach Camp and his family the very best in their next endeavor."

With the transition underway, EOU will immediately launch a national search for its next head football coach. During this process, Defensive Coordinator Solo Taylor will serve as interim head coach. Taylor, a respected leader within the program, will be responsible for maintaining continuity, supporting student-athletes, and guiding the team through offseason preparations.
