Mounties Top Geoducks for Most Wins in Program History

LACEY, Wash. – Eastern Oregon women's soccer used a three-goal first half to secure a 3-1 victory over The Evergreen State College on Saturday afternoon at the Regional Athletic Complex. With the win, the Mountaineers closed out the regular season at 14-4-1 overall and 11-2-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

EOU wasted no time asserting control, scoring three goals in the first 13 minutes. Peyton Jacaway opened the scoring in the 8th minute on a setup from Karina DeYoung, burying a shot from eight yards out. Less than 30 seconds later, Carly Imes doubled the lead with her second goal of the season off an assist from Ashley Smith. The Mountaineers struck again in the 13th minute as Tess Sando cleaned up a corner kick opportunity, finishing a service from Macy Reed to make it 3-0.

Evergreen (1-13-1, 1-10-1 CCC) pulled one back early in the second half, capitalizing on a turnover as Madeline Dorendorf scored unassisted in the 58th minute. Despite the goal, EOU controlled the pace throughout, holding a 25-1 shot advantage and an 11-0 margin in corner kicks.

Jacaway led the Mounties with two shots on goal, while six different players placed shots on target. Madeline Barker earned the win in goal, starting the first half, while Hannah Krantz played the second. Evergreen keeper Katie Gresham made three saves in 90 minutes.

This marks the first time in program history that Eastern Oregon has reached 10 regular-season wins. With the victory, the Mountaineers enter the CCC postseason riding the momentum of a five-match win streak. Once regular-season play wraps up tomorrow, the bracket for the conference tournament will be released.
