Kropf’s Second-Half Strike Lifts Mountaineers Over Oregon Tech

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon men's soccer stayed unbeaten in Cascade Collegiate Conference play, earning a 1-0 win over Oregon Tech on Friday evening at Community Stadium. The Mountaineers (9-0-4, 6-0-2 CCC) scored the game's lone goal midway through the second half and held firm defensively to shut out the Owls (5-3-4, 3-3-1 CCC)

After a physical first half that saw both teams trading fouls and defensive stops, Eastern Oregon broke through in the 57th minute when Daniel Kropf netted his third goal of the season. The game-winner came off a setup from Jesus Alvarez.

EOU outshot Oregon Tech 14-9, including a 6-2 edge in the first half. The Mounties were led by Tawanda Rice with two shots on goal, while Kropf, Anthony Macedo, and Jesus Alvarez also created consistent attacking pressure.

In goal, Anthony Lemus posted his fourth shutout of the season, making two key saves—to preserve the lead. OIT's Harvey Bolland kept the match close with three saves on the night.
Eastern Oregon held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks and committed 10 fouls to Oregon Tech's 13. Two yellow cards were issued to the Mountaineers in the second half: one to Alvarez in the 59th minute and another to Rene Prieto in the 78th.

With the win, Eastern Oregon remains atop the CCC standings and will look to build on the momentum when it hosts RV Southern Oregon on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
