La Grande, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University's men's wrestling team delivered a strong performance, claiming a 29-6 victory over Big Bend Community College on Saturday night. The Mountaineers secured wins in seven of the eight contested matches.
The dual began with double forfeits at 125 and 133 pounds. Eastern Oregon then seized early momentum at 141 pounds when Kobe Olson pinned Aiden Meikle in just 1:26, setting the tone for the Mountaineers. Vincent Cramer followed at 149 pounds, earning a tech fall over Alexander Barajas with a 19-3 score at 5:22.
Big Bend's lone victory came at 157 pounds, where Cole Starr pinned Travis Sherman in 1:40, briefly narrowing the Mountaineers' lead. However, EOU responded with John Rudebaugh pinning Jaden Lopez in 1:48 at 165 pounds.
At 174 pounds, Kylan Guerra outlasted Dax Wood in a 5-3 decision. Treven Hokland used a strong finish at 184 pounds to secure an 11-7 decision over Drake Wood. At 197 pounds, Justin Sawai edged Mac Laird in a nail-biting 10-9 decision. Nico Rodriguez capped the dual at heavyweight with a 4-2 victory over Hunter Tibodeou.
