Mounties Hold On For Dual Win Over Geoducks

OLYMPIA, WASH. – The #17 Eastern Oregon University women's wrestling team defeated RV Evergreen State College in a tightly contested dual on Saturday, securing a 24-19 team victory.

Eastern Oregon opened the dual with a forfeit victory at 103 pounds, giving the Mounties an early edge. At 110 pounds, Evergreen State's Nizhoni Tallman responded with a commanding technical fall over Nia Avelino, earning a 10-0 victory at the 4:55 mark to bring the Geoducks back into contention.

The Mountaineers regained momentum at 117 pounds when Irma Retano controlled her match to claim a technical fall over Emma Desotell in just 2:11. At 124 pounds, Kadence Beck extended the lead with a dominant performance, pinning Erica Grant in 1:07.

Evergreen State struck back at 131 pounds, as Ellabelle Taylor secured a quick fall over Brooke Cicierski in just 20 seconds. Eastern Oregon, however, pulled away with back-to-back victories, including a forfeit win for Lexie Garza at 138 pounds and a lightning-fast pin by Liv Wieber at 145 pounds, who defeated Charlie White in only 19 seconds.

The Geoducks closed the dual strong in the upper weights. Flor Parker Borrero (160 pounds) and Viktoriya Dovhoruka (180 pounds) both earned fall victories for Evergreen State, defeating Jocelyn Velasco and Laura Meyers, respectively. Despite their late surge, the Mountaineers held on for the 24-19 team victory.
