WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Eastern Oregon cruised to a 4-0 victory over Walla Walla on Wednesday, dominating both possession and chances at the Walla Walla Sports Complex. The Mountaineers controlled the match from the outset, netting three goals in the first half and adding a fourth in the second to secure the win.
Jesus Alvarez opened the scoring for Eastern Oregon in the 13th minute, converting a setup from Edgar Romero Perez. The Mountaineers doubled their lead just over ten minutes later when Angel Sandoval found the back of the net, assisted by Jahrie Gray. Milton Hernandez made it 3-0 before halftime, finishing off a pass from Tawanda Rice in the 39th minute.
Alvarez added his second goal of the match in the 65th minute, sealing the victory with an unassisted strike. Walla Walla struggled to generate offense, recording only four shots, and EOU goalkeeper Sebastian Guillen made two saves to preserve the clean sheet.
The Mountaineers fired 18 shots, putting 10 on target and forcing Walla Walla goalkeeper Kylan LeGault into six saves. Eastern Oregon also earned eight corner kicks, while the Wolves failed to earn a single opportunity.
A physical contest throughout, the game saw both teams commit a total of 22 fouls, with Walla Walla receiving two yellow cards during the contest.
