Volleyball Secures Two Wins at Alamo City Volleyesta

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Eastern Oregon Volleyball hit the ground running on the first day of Alamo City Volleyesta, winning both games and advancing to 6-0 on the season.

GAME 1

EOU continued their winning streak on Friday with a 3-1 victory over Oklahoma City University at the OLLU Mabee Gymnasium. The Mountaineers secured set wins of 25-15, 17-25, 25-21, and 25-21.

The Mounties ultimately hit .194 as a team with 45 kills on 124 attempts. Ashton Bales and Kiauna Mack led the charge with 10 kills each, while Keira Vaughn contributed seven kills. Eastern Oregon also recorded 11 aces, with Hailey Arritola leading the way with six.

On defense, Eastern Oregon tallied 8 blocks, with Brooke Womack and Kiauna Mack each registering three. Hailey Arritola was a standout defender with 12 digs, supported by Hannah Ramage with nine and Hannah Ledgerwood with four.

Oklahoma City, now 1-4 for the season, saw notable performances from Grace Smallwood, who led her team with 14 kills, and Rylee Steward with nine. The Stars managed to win the second set with a strong performance but struggled in the remaining sets. Jaiden Downey and Joeci Hunt each recorded 2 aces, while Natalie Adams led the team with 30 total assists.

GAME 2

The Mounties continued their impressive day with a convincing 3-0 victory over Cumberland University, defeating the Phoenix with set wins of 25-10, 25-21, and 25-21.

Eastern Oregon's offense was dominant throughout the match, hitting .257 as a team with 40 kills on 101 attempts. Vaughn led the charge with nine kills, while Madison Morgan contributed eight and Kiauna Mack added seven. The Mountaineers also excelled in serving, recording six aces with Hailey Arritola, Olivia Wegner, and Hannah Ramage each contributing one.

Defensively, the Mountaineers registered six blocks, with Kiauna Mack leading the way with four. Hailey Arritola anchored the back row with 11 digs, supported by Alexis McMurtrey with 10 and Hannah Ramage with nine.

Cumberland had a balanced offensive effort with Haley Mitchell, Hazel Konkel, and Lila Cade each notching six kills. Elaine Shaneyfelt was a standout performer with four aces and 12 digs. Emma Chavers led her team with 14 assists. Following the loss, the Phoenix moved to 1-5 on the season.

Eastern Oregon will return to action tomorrow when they face Nelson University at 10:00 a.m. CST and Our Lady of the Lake University at 2:30 p.m. CST.
