SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Eastern Oregon Volleyball dominated IU Kokomo in a decisive sweep during pool play at the 2024 NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship, securing a 25-11, 25-18, 25-15 victory at the Tyson Events Center on Friday afternoon.
The Mountaineers (31-4) put on an offensive clinic, finishing with a .319 hitting percentage while holding the Cougars (33-6) to a meager .035. Eastern Oregon set the tone early, hitting an impressive .542 in the first set and never relinquishing control.
Keira Vaughn led the Mountaineers' attack with 12 kills on a blistering .476 hitting percentage, while Kiauna Mack added 11 kills, hitting .333. Madison Morgan contributed seven kills, and Ashton Bales tallied five while anchoring the defense with four blocks. The Mountaineers also showcased their depth, highlighted by Hailey Arritola's 17 digs and Hannah Ledgerwood's 16 assists.
IU Kokomo's struggles were evident throughout the match. Cali Cummings led the Cougars with six kills on a .211 hitting percentage, but their top hitter, Lexi Broyles, was limited to a .074 efficiency due to EOU's stifling defense, which racked up 14 block assists.
This victory marks Eastern Oregon's ninth advancement out of pool play and its fifth appearance in the national quarterfinals. The Mountaineers will next face the winner of Pool C on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. CT.
