LEWISTON, Idaho. – The Mounties took control early against the Loggers of Puget Sound on Friday afternoon at the P1FCU Activity Center, shooting 57.1 percent from three to take a 24-13 lead after one quarter of play. The Mountaineers maintained their impressive play throughout the course of the game, securing an 82-60 victory and improving their record to 2-1 on the season.
Senior guard Kelsie Siegner led the Mountaineers with an impressive 18 points, shooting 50% from beyond the arc (4-of-7) and contributing four steals. Guard Raquel Fehringer added 16 points, perfect from the free-throw line at 8-for-8, while Brie Holecek tallied 12 points and dished out three assists.
Eastern Oregon's depth was evident as the bench contributed 36 points. Maggie Smith pulled down six rebounds and added five points, and Brinley Hagemeier orchestrated the offense with a game-high five assists and the same number of points. The Mountaineers dominated the boards with a 47-28 rebounding edge, generating 14 second-chance points.
Puget Sound's Paige Oh led her team with 13 points, while Addison Reardon contributed 10 points and three rebounds. The Loggers made just 4-of-17 attempts from distance in the contest.
Eastern Oregon will return to action tomorrow for day two of the Twin Rivers Physical Therapy Classic in Lewiston, facing the Carroll College Saints at 2:00 p.m. PT.
