LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University Track and Field Team split up with a majority of the team competing in the Linfield Open on Saturday, while a smaller group competed in the Portland Twilight Meet. After a stellar performance last weekend, the Mounties came back down to Earth Saturday, but still had a good weekend highlighted by record breaking and near-record breaking throws.
WOMEN
MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – EOU's throwers continue to string strong performances together this season and Saturday afternoon was no different at the Linfield Open.
Maggie Ledbetter had another massive day in the throws starting with a record-breaking performance in the shot put where she set a new PR and broke her own record. The graduate student won the event with an "A" Standard mark of 14.87 meters. She also had a personal best day in the hammer throw where she posted an "A" Standard with a new personal record throw of 53.65 meters which won the event. Her new high also moved her into second in the all-time EOU record books, coming just shy of the school record which is 53.78 meters set by Leah Merrell in 2002.
Along with Ledbetter,
Kenna Woodward continues to be a force in the throws as well posting a "B" Standard mark of 50.36 meters which was good for a third place finish.
Also posting a "B" Standard mark was
Allie Best in the javelin. The senior out of Cove unleashed a throw of 39.07 meters taking second in the event.

Madelyn Nichols,
Katie Jo Gebhardt,
Lauryn Mitchell, and
Michelle Herbes broke the EOU record. The team posted a time of 9:13.41 which broke the school record by just under half a second.
