LA GRANDE, Ore. - Eastern Oregon University was back in action Saturday afternoon as they took on the Knights of Warner Pacific in a double header. The Mounties showed to be too much for the Knights as they took both games by a score of 2-0 in game one and 4-0 in game two. In between the games EOU honored its four seniors, Kaylin Winans, Karsyn Zaragoza, Caitlin Crist, and Haley Ebner for their commitment to Eastern Oregon Softball.
GAME 1
Game one of the matchup was a pitcher dual. Eastern Oregon was led in the circle by Kaylie Hoskins. Hoskins had another terrific outing going the distance for the Mounties allowing just two hits while adding 16 strikeouts. The Knights were led by Abby Carlson who went the distance allowing just five hits while adding 8 strikeouts. Eastern broke the 0-0 tie in the bottom of the sixth after an Addison Ribordy single up the middle scored Haley Tyree. The Mounties were not done there as Hannah Tyree drove Ribordy home with a double to left field. This was all Hoskins and the Mountaineers needed as they were able to close the Knights out in the seventh to take game one by a score of 2-0.Â

GAME 2
Eastern Oregon was led in the circle in game two by senior Kaylin Winans. Winans went the distance for the Mounties allowing just five hits and no runs while adding a strikeout. The Eastern offense started slow but found their rhythm giving Winans all the help she needed. A Gates Leatherwood 2-run home run over the center field fence gave the Mounties a 2-0 lead. Eastern tacked on another run in the bottom of the fifth after a Haley Tyree solo shot over the right field fence. EOU was not done there as they tacked on one final run in the bottom of the sixth after a single up the middle by senior Haley Ebner scored Hannah Tyree. Winans and the Mountaineers closed out the Knights in the seventh to take game two by a score of 4-0.Â
