Touchard’s Home Run Helps Mounties Complete Day Three Sweep

Rocklin, Ca.- The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers (7-3) faced Menlo College Oaks (2-12) on the final day of their California trip. Game one consisted of a hot Mountie offense and strong defense as EOU held the Oaks to three hits to take game one 5-2. Menlo rallied back and put up a fight in game two as most of the game was a 1-1 tie until the sixth inning when the Oaks put two more on the board. Jessica Touchard delivered a three-run home run to take the game 4-3. The Mounties travel to Great Falls, Montana to take on the Argos of Providence to open CCC play on February 24th at 1 p.m. MT.

GAME 1
EOU's group effort helped them to a 5-2 win over the Menlo College Oaks. Totaling five RBIS and seven hits in the game one win. Locking in defensively and holding the Oaks scoreless for six innings was key. Caitlin Crist and Haley Tyree flew around the bases combining for four stolen bases to move the Mounties around on top of their seven hits. Kaylin Winans and Kaylie Hoskins added five strikeouts.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES  
GAME 2 
A late three-run homer by Jessica Touchard lifted the Mounties to take game two 4-3. EOU got on the board first, but the Oaks came back in the second inning to tie it up 1-1. Both teams went scoreless for the next three innings battling it out to see who would go up first. Menlo capitalized on an EOU error to put them up 3-1. Gates Leatherwood and Hannah Ebner got on base for the Mounties, and in the bottom of the sixth, Jessica Touchard stepped up and smacked a ball to right field to bring in herself, Leatherwood, and Hannah Ebner. The Oaks went three-up, three-down in the top of the seventh to allow the Mounties to secure the sweep with the game two win.
