LA GRANDE, Ore. - Eastern Oregon (7-3, 3-3 CCC) took it to The College of Idaho (2-10, 2-4 CCC) early in an 85-59 game on Friday night.
Brie Holecek led the Mountaineers with 20 points, including three three-pointers, while
Beverly Slater chipped in 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Eastern jumped ahead early and never looked back. Eastern's Macie Elliot got things started pushing EOU out to a 9-0 lead after the tip off on three consecutive three pointers. The Mounties held that momentum to jump up 28-5 after one quarter of play.
Despite a bounce-back effort from the Yotes in the remaining three quarters, the first quarter lead proved to be the difference in the game. The College of Idaho outscored Eastern in the middle quarters by a slim two points, but the Mounties added five more to their lead outscoring the Yotes 23-18 in the fourth to seal the game at 85-59.
