Eastern Oregon Falls Short in Battle With Florida College

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - Eastern Oregon wrapped up their trip to the South against Florida College on Thursday, pushing the Falcons to the brink before a narrow 77-80 defeat.

It was a closely contested affair throughout, with neither team able to pull away by more than a few points. Both teams shot above 40% from the field, with Florida College slightly more efficient on the night. The Mountaineers put in work on the boards, grabbing 36 rebounds compared to Florida College's 32, including 13 second-chance points. Their aggressive defense also forced 11 turnovers, translating into 12 points on the other end.

Garrett Hawkes paced EOU's attack with 21 points, while Brennen Newsom chipped in a solid 12 points and 6 rebounds, providing a presence down low. The backcourt duo of Adam Orr and Malachi Afework also orchestrated the offense, scoring 10 points each.

Tyshon Judge was the night's leading scorer with 29 points, displaying a lethal combination of deep threes and crafty drives. Cam Selders dominated the paint with 9 rebounds and played a pivotal role in securing second-chance opportunities for the Falcons. Deonte' Martinez provided valuable energy off the bench, contributing 7 points and 5 rebounds.

The Mounties will return to action on December 30th, facing the College of Idaho Yotes at Quinn Coliseum.
