COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Eastern Oregon Women's Basketball picked up its third straight road win Friday afternoon, taking down Walla Walla University 60-50. The Mountaineers are now 7-3 in true road games this season and improve to 17-8 overall with a 14-3 mark in CCC play.
How it Happened
• The Mountaineers shot 31.3% in the win, while the Wolves (1-22, 0-16 CCC) kept themselves in the contest shooting 36.4%. The difference came from three-point range and points off turnovers.
• Eastern shot 12-38 from deep for 31.6% and scored 12 points off 16 WWU turnovers. The Wolves were just 6-20 from deep and had just nine points off 15 EOU turnovers.
• Providing a spark in what was a close game for much of the afternoon was bench scoring for EOU. The Mountaineers' reserves scored 13 points compared to just two by WWU.
• Rebounding once again went in EOU's favor with a44-37 advantage. The Mountaineers also had 18 offensive boards, leading to 14 second chance points.
• In the first five minutes of the opening quarter, Eastern nailed four triples to help them hold a 14-7 lead. The Wolves managed to claw their way back into the game and trailed 14-11 with 1:29 to play.
• The Mountaineers closed out the final 89 seconds with an 8-0 run to lead by 11. 
Aliann Schmidt sparked the run with a short jumper as they held a 22-11 edge going into the second quarter.
• The second quarter was a low scoring affair as the two teams scored a combined 18 points. WWU had a slight edge at 10-8, but trailed by nine at the break.
• A layup by 
Sailor Liefke in the first two minutes put EOU up 13, 24-11. The Wolves responded, going ona 7-0 run to cut their deficit to just three, 24-21, with 4:59 to play in the half.
• Eastern closed out the second quarter with a 6-0 run to lead 30-21 at the break. Scoring all six points was 
Brandy Smith who nailed a pair of triples to give EOU the nine-point advantage.
• In the third quarter, offensive tempo picked up as the Mountaineers scored 22 points. The Wolves kept pace scoring 18, but trailed by 13 going into the fourth.
• WWU scored the first four points of the quarter to get within five, 30-25, but the effort was short lived. EOU went on a 10-0 run to lead 40-25 with 4:57 to play in the frame. 
• The Mountaineers led by as much as 17 in the third when 
Taylor Stricklin nailed a three with 3:28 to play. Despite the 18-point frame, the Wolves never got within single digits the rest of the third.
• The fourth quarter was another low scoring bout with the Wolves barely outscoring Eastern 11-8. WWU got within single digits a handful of times but never managed to mount a full comeback.
• The closest the Wolves got was seven points a pair of times. A late three cut EOU's lead to 57-50 in the final minute, but the Mounties closed the game going 3-4 at the free throw line to secure the win.

Taylor Stricklin scored 15 points and grabbed 10 boards for a double-double.

Sailor Liefke added 14 points to go along with four assists and four steals.

Adyson Harris chipped in nine points in the win and grabbed seven rebounds.

Brandy Smith put up eight points to go along with seven boards and three assists. 
For the Wolves
• Carolina Montes led all scorers with 16 points on 7-14 shooting. She also grabbed seven rebounds.
• Isabella Robles had a team best eight rebounds and added 11 points.
• Jaliyah Casem scored 10 points in the loss and dished out three assists to go align with three steals.
