LA GRANDE, Ore. – The No. 20 Mountaineers relied on hot shooting and a dominant day on the glass to run away with a 31-point victory over Warner Pacific Friday evening. Eastern took a 77-46 victory over the Knights to remain undefeated in conference play and at home while moving to 7-1 on the season. The loss drops Warner Pacific to 0-9.
The Mountaineers, who rank in the top 10 nationally in all shooting percentages, relied on that sharp shooting and a massive rebounding advantage to take the win. Aside from a 2-0 lead to start the game, Warner Pacific never led as the Mounties built on their lead all the way to the final minute when they led by their largest margin of the day, 33 points. Eastern shot 50% from beyond the arc and from the field while shutting down Warner Pacific and holding the Knights to 18-46 shooting and a 3-16 performance from beyond the arc.
Next up for the Mounties is Multnomah tomorrow afternoon. EOU will take on the 3-6 Lions in Quinn Coliseum with tipoff set for 3 p.m.
