Mountaineers Suffer First Home Loss in 73-70 Setback Against Beacons

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University Women's Basketball suffered its first home loss of the season Friday night, dropping a 73-70 contest to Bushnell University inside Quinn Coliseum. The loss brings the Mountaineer's record to 15-8 overall and 12-3 in conference play.

How it Happened
• EOU managed to shoot over 40% in the contest at 40.9%, but gave up a 46.4 shooting percentage against Bushnell (14-9, 11-4 CCC). 
• The Beacons outscored Eastern in every quarter but the fourth and their reserves outscored EOU's bench 14-4.
• The game was a close battle much of the night and through the first quarter of action, Bushnell led 16-14. Maddy Juul had six points, while Adyson Harris added four to help guide the EOU offense.
• The second quarter saw the Beacons outscore the Mounties 17-11, which was the largest margin of any quarter. Their efforts allowed them to take a 33-25 lead into the break.
• The two teams traded shots in the quarter but a late surge allowed Bushnell to lead by eight at the break. It was a 25-25 tie with 3:27 to play in the frame before an 8-0 run by the Beacons gave them the lead going into halftime.
• The third quarter was the highest scoring as the two teams combined for 44 points in the frame. Bushnell had the edge, 23-21, to lead 56-46 going into the fourth.
• Bushnell went up by 10 in the first three minutes of the frame and maintained a 2-3 possession lead throughout the quarter. EOU's closest gap was five, 41-36, but went into the fourth trailing 56-46.
• The Mounties highest scoring quarter came in the fourth as they outscored Bushnell 24-17. Despite the string surge, the Beacons managed to escape with the three-point win.
• Even with the strong scoring surge, EOU never managed to retake the lead. The Mounties got within one a handful of times but ultimately succumbed to the three-point loss.

Mountaineers Stat Leaders
Taylor Stricklin led all scorers with 20 points on 7-17 made shots and was 4-9 from deep. She also tied the game-high in rebounds with nine.
Adyson Harris had 15 points on 6-12 shooting. 
Sailor Liefke added 11 points and grabbed a game-high nine boards.
Haley Robinett also scored 11 points in the loss. 
Maddy Juul chipped in nine points and grabbed eight boards.

For the Beacons
• Morgan McKinney paced the offense with 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
• Aspen Slifka scored 16 points and pulled down seven boards.
• Bella Pedrojetti added 12 points in the win on 4-5 made shots. 
• Aly Mirabile also scored 12 points in the win.
• Libby Mathis led the way in rebounding with eight boards.
