KIRKLAND, Wash. – Eastern Oregon University Women's Basketball picked a hard fought road win Friday evening over Northwest University, 83-79. The Mountaineers trailed by 1-2 possessions the majority of the night, but late game heroics from
Adyson Harris lifted the team to victory. With the win, EOU improves to 11-7 overall and 8-2 in conference play.
How it Happened
•
Adyson Harris sparked the comeback win, nailing two late game three pointers that gave EOU the lead twice in the final 74 seconds of regulation. Her first three put Eastern up 77-76 before another deep triple in the final minutes gave the team a 80-78 that they never relinquished.
• Despite playing from behind most of the night, EOU shot 41.3% overall, but was just 24.3% from deep. NU (11-6, 5-5 CCC) shot 48.4% from the floor and 42.9% from deep, but went just 3-7.
• The game was close in every category the whole way. EOU had an edge in points of turnovers, 23-19, while NU scored just one more point in the paint, 36-35. Neither team's bench did much damage as the Eagles' reserves won the scoring battle 9-7.
• The first quarter was a high scoring battle with the two teams combining for 45 points. NU led 25-20 after the first thanks to a fast start that saw the team jump ahead 6-2 early on.
• The Eagles quick start helped them establish a 16-9 lead in the first five minutes of play. EOU managed to chip away at the lead and got within two a pair of times before going into the second trailing by five.
• Northwest managed to hold its lead through the first half of the second quarter before a run by EOU gave the team its first lead of the night. Trailing 31-27, the Mounties scored five unanswered to lead 32-31 midway through the quarter.
• The Eagles retook the lead, 33-32, but it was short lived as EOU jumped back ahead. The Mountaineers led by 2-4 points through the final five minutes, but a late rally gave NU a 44-42 lead at the halftime break.
• In the second half, Eastern outscored NU 41-35, including a 25-13 fourth quarter that propelled them to victory. NU managed to hold a wire-to-wire lead the entire third quarter.
• The Eagles managed to lead by as much as nine in the quarter, 63-54. EOU never allowed the deficit to get to double figures, but went into the fourth trailing by eight, 66-58.
• An 8-2 run by Eastern to start the fourth quarter got the team within two, 68-66, in the first three minutes. NU looked to stay in front until the Mountaineers ultimately tied the game, 70-70, midway through the frame.
• EOU then held the Eagles to just nine more points the rest of the quarter and outscored them 13-9 to secure the win. Harris was clutch down the stretch scoring eight of the Mountaineers' 13 points, including two big triples that helped secure the 83-79 win.
Mountaineers Stat Leaders

Adyson Harris led all scorers with 28 points on 10-17 shooting. She also grabbed a game best eight boards.

Taylor Stricklin added 20 points in the win, going 6-18 overall and had seven rebounds.

Sailor Liefke posted a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 10 assists. She also notched six steals.
•
Maddy Juul chipped in nine points on 4-8 made shots and grabbed five rebounds.
For the Eagles
• Sam VanLoo led the offense with 18 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
• Livi Lindsey put up 14 points on 6-15 shooting and had five assists and rebounds, respectively.
• Maya DuChesne and Andie Kristinat each scored 13 points in the loss.
• Caitlin Monten rounded out the double figure scoring with 12 points to go along with five boards.
By the Numbers
16 - EOU grabbed 16 offensive rebounds, which is the second highest in a game this year.
