Mountaineers Riding Three-Game Win Streak into Start of CCC Play

LA GRANDE, Ore. - 15th-ranked Mountaineer Women's Soccer will ride into Cascade Collegiate Conference play this weekend with a three-game win streak and will look to keep that momentum going.

Kickoff
• The Mountaineers finished up non-conference play with a 3-1-0 record. They posted wins against two NAIA foes and one NCAA Division III opponent.
• EOU will battle against two Portland schools this weekend in the Warner Pacific Knights and Multnomah Lions.
• Of the six games scheduled in September, the Mountaineers will play three on the road and three at home.

Story Lines
• The Mountaineers are currently on a three game winning streak and all three wins have come via shutout.
• Eastern is also currently on a two-game road win streak. They have a 2-0-0 record this season in pure road games.
• With the home win on Monday against Westmont, the Mountaineers have now won each of their last 10 matches inside Community Stadium.

Last Time Out

• The Mountaineers won an exhilarating home opener on Monday against then No. 17 Westmont College, 1-0. Scoring the lone goal in the win for EOU was Morgan Farrington in the 77th minute.
• In net, Madeline Barker tallied six saves to post her third straight shutout.

Previously Against Warner Pacific/Multnomah
• The Mountaineers and Knights last met in 2019, with EOU winning in dominant fashion by a final of 5-0.
• EOU and Mulnomah also last met in 2019. EOU had a record setting day with an 11-0 win at home against the Lions.
• Since 2007, EOU is 9-3-1 against WPU and has won each of the last five matchups. In their short history against Multnomah, the Mounties are 2-0-0 against them.

CCC Openers
• Since 2007, the Mountaineers are 6-7-1 in CCC openers. Under the direction of Jacob Plocher, EOU is 3-1-0 in conference openers.
• EOU has won its last two CCC openers and since 2007, the Mounties are 2-5-1 in CCC openers on the road.
• The Mountaineers have played just two CCC road openers under Jacob Plocher and are 1-1-0 in those two battles.

There's No Place Like Home
• Since 2017, the Mountaineers are a staggering 26-1-0 at home under Head Coach Jacob Plocher.

Road Warriors
• In the Mountaineers first eight games this season, five will be on the road. EOU has yet to play at home this season with the first three games on the road.
• In the month of September, Eastern will play at home just three times on Sept. 13, 24, and 25.
• Of the 16 scheduled regular season games for the Mountaineers in 2021, nine will be road contests with the remaining seven being at home.

Blanking the Opposition
• In all three wins for EOU this year, each has come in shutout fashion.
• Under the direction of Jacob Plocher, the Mountaineers have posted 49 total shutouts.
• Dating back to the 2020 regular season, Eastern has posted four straight shutouts at home.

EOU in the Polls
• The second NAIA Top-25 Women's Soccer Coaches' Poll saw the Mountaineers slip from No. 13 to No. 15.
• The recent set of rankings does not reflect EOU's win over Westmont this past Monday.
• In the CCC preseason coaches' poll, Eastern was tabbed to win the conference crown. The Mounties tallied nine first-place votes and racked up 164 points.
• The next scheduled NAIA top-25 poll is set to release Wednesday, Sept. 22.

Scouting the Competition
Warner Pacific Knights

• The Knights enter the weekend series with a record of 1-2-0. The Knights have yet to play at home this year. The lone win for WPU came against Mills College, 4-0, this past Tuesday.
• Offensively, the Knights have scored five goals this season and are averaging 1.67 per game. They have tallied 42 shots with 21 coming on goal. WPU has three assists on the year as well.
• Defensively, opponents have scored six goals on the Knights. As a team, WPU is surrendering 2.00 goals per game and has tallied 16 saves so far this season.
• Two Knights have totaled five points in three starts in Mikayla Dart and Maddie Goss. Both players have tallied two goals and dished out an assist.
• Dart has taken the most shots for the Knights with 10 and has had six come on goal. 
• Goss is second in shots taken with eight total and two have come on goal. 
• Olivia Stumetz has the only other goal scored for the Knights and it was a gamewinner.
• Two players have appeared in net for WPU in Isabelle Bauer and Makenna McClellan. Both have surrendered three goals, while McClellan leads the way in saves with nine.

Multnomah Lions
• The Lions enter this weekend's series at home with a 1-1-0 overall record. The lone win for Multnomah was a 1-0 win over Mills College back in early September.
• On offense, the Lions have just one goal on the year and have tallied 18 total shots. Of their 18 shots, eight have come on goal.
• On defense, MU has surrendered just one goal thus far and has allowed 16 total shots and 10 shots on goal. MU has racked up nine saves on the year in net.
• Camilla Meneses has the only goal on the year for the Lions and has taken just one shot.
• Valeria Castro and Jayden Hotchkiss each lead the team in shots with three apiece.
• In net, Trisha Priest has started in two contests and has notched nine saves to go along with one shutout.

Up Next
• The Mountaineers will return home for the final time in September next weekend as CCC play continues. EOU will host a pair of teams in Corban on Friday, Sept. 24, followed by Bushnell on Saturday, Sept. 25. Kickoff for both games is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. PT inside Community Stadium.
