No. 13 Mountaineers Set for Top-25 Showdown Against No. 17 Westmont

LA GRANDE, Ore. - No. 14 Mountaineers Women's Soccer is back in action as the team gets set for a top-25 showdown in their home opener.

No. 17 Westmont College Warriors (3-0-1)

WHEN
Monday, Sept. 13 - 4 p.m. PT

Kickoff
• The Mountaineers (2-1-0) will look to continue their winning ways as they take on another top-25 team in the Westmont Warriors.
• Eastern Oregon's match this Monday will be their final non-conference bout of the regular season before beginning conference play this coming weekend.
• Of the four non-conference games, this is the only one that will be played at home in 2021.
• Westmont already has a win at Community Stadium having defeated Northwest on Saturday, Sept. 11, 3-2 in overtime.
• Following Monday's match, EOU will head to the west side of the state to start conference play against Warner Pacific and Multnomah.

EOU Athletics Spectator Policy
• Spectators will be allowed at sporting events, but masks will be required to be worn correctly (over mouth AND nose) at ALL indoor and outdoor events per state and local policy. This is subject to change at any time.
• Failure to comply with conference or institutional attendance policies will result in removal from venue and any further EOU contests.
• General Admission is allowed for both indoor and outdoor events and is on a first come, first serve basis. To see ticket prices for individual EOU sporting events and to purchase tickets, click here.
• Concessions will be available for outdoor EOU athletic events, but not indoor EOU athletic events.
• Students, faculty, and staff wishing to attend indoor EOU Athletic Events can do so for FREE by showcasing their EOU ID card.

How to Watch/Follow
• Fans can catch all the Mountaineers' home soccer matches on the Mountie Sports Network at www.eousports.com/watch. Trevor Curl will be on the call this season for play-by-play commentary. Pregame for all home matches begins 15 minutes prior to first serve.
• All games will be Pay-Per-View and can be purchased for $7.95 per game. Fans can also purchase an Eastern Oregon All-Access pass to watch all 2021-22 EOU home sporting events for $100.
• Live stats for this weekend's matches can be found at www.eousports.com/livestats. 

Story Lines
• The Mountaineers are currently riding a two-game winning streak going into Monday's matchup and will look to hand the Warriors their first loss of the season.
• The showdown against Westmont, will be the second top-25 match for Eastern. The team's only other match was against No. 3 Spring Arbor in the season opener.
• Monday's contest will be just the second matchup all-time between EOU and Westmont.
• Dating back to the 2019 season, EOU has won each of its last nine matches inside Community Stadium.

Quick Hits
Last Time Out

• The Mountaineers had their best offensive output on Friday as they took down Whitman College, 4-0, on the road.
• EOU finished with 14 shots total in the win with 10 coming on goal. Four different players scored in the win with Brooke Ford scoring the gamewinner in the 43rd minute.

Previously Against Westmont
• The Mountaineers and Warriors have only met one other time on the pitch back in 2017. The two squads squared off in the opening round of the NAIA National Championships. 
• Westmont ended the Mountaineers 2017 season with a 1-0 win. The lone goal of the contest came in the 26th minute.

There's No Place Like Home
• Since 2017, the Mountaineers are a staggering 25-1-0 at home under Head Coach Jacob Plocher.
• Since 2018, when EOU started playing inside Community Stadium, the team is 19-1-0 at home.
• The Mountaineers are currently on a nine-game winning streak at home dating back to 2019.
• Since 2017, EOU has posted three undefeated records at home in 2017, 2018, and 2020.

Road Warriors
• In the Mountaineers first eight games this season, five will be on the road. EOU has yet to play at home this season with the first three games on the road.
• In the month of September, Eastern will play at home just three times on Sept. 13, 24, and 25.
• Of the 16 scheduled regular season games for the Mountaineers in 2021, nine will be road contests with the remaining seven being at home.

EOU in the Polls
• The first regular season poll of 2021, EOU slipped three spots from its preseason No. 10 spot to No. 13.
• In the CCC preseason coaches' poll, Eastern was tabbed to win the conference crown. The Mounties tallied nine first-place votes and racked up 164 points.
• The next scheduled NAIA top-25 poll is set to release Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Individual Milestones
• In the win against Whitman, Mackinley Gregus notched her 10th career assist.
• Head Coach Jacob Plocher picked up his 55th career win at EOU in Friday's victory over Whitman.
• Yahaira Chavarria-Mondragon scored her first career goal in Friday's win.
• Madeline Barker is seven saves away from reaching 20 for her young career.

Scouting the Competition
No. 17 Westmont College Warriors

• The Warriors go into Monday's match currently undefeated at 3-0-1 and ranked No. 17 in the NAIA.
• Westmont has wins against Southern Oregon, Marymount California, and Northwest. The lone tie the Warriors posted was a 1-1 battle against Rocky Mountain College.
• Offensively, the Warriors have put up six goals this season and are averaging 1.50 goals per game. They have tallied 66 total shots, 39 shots on goal, and average 16.5 shots per game.
• Defensively, Westmont has surrendered just three goals this year with two coming against Northwest this past Saturday.
• In net, Kailey Meyer has started all four games for the Warriors and has posted a pair of shutouts. She has a 3-0-1 record and has tallied 10 saves this season.
• Reese Davidson leads the offense early on with three goals scored for six points, She has posted 14 shots overall and has had nine come on goal. She has a .643 shots on goal percentage and has scored one gamewinning goal.
• Amarys Machado is second on the team in points with three. She has scored one goal and tallied one assist. Her lone goal was a gamewinner.
• Both Olivia Gabelein and Sadie Hill have scored one goal on the year so far. Gabelein's lone goal was also a gamewinner.
• Three other Warriors have tallied one assist in Grace Duckens, Teagan Matye, and Shayna Stock.

Up Next
• The Mountaineers will hit the road to begin conference play this weekend. EOU will be in Portland to take on Warner Pacific on Friday, Sept. 17 followed by Multnomah on Saturday, Sept. 18. Kickoff for both contests are scheduled for 7 p.m. PT.
