PORTLAND – Eastern Oregon University Women's Basketball ended their first weekend in CCC play by picking up a 75-46 win over Multnomah University Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Mountaineers record to 8-2 overall and has them off to a 2-0 start in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.
How it Happened
• Eastern shot 44.4% from the field in the win and held the Lions (0-9, 0-2 CCC) just 31.6 from the floor. Multnomah was also limited to just 18.2% (4-22) from beyond the arc, while the Mountaineers shot 33.3% from deep on 10-30 made shots.
• Even though the Mounties led the entire game the Lions kept it close in the first two quarters making it just a four-point lead for the Mounties heading into the half. Eastern jumped out by seven late in the first quarter, 20-13, but a shot in the paint by the lions cut the score to 20-15 after one.
• The Mounties made it an eight-point lead in the first two minutes of the second on a
Beverly Slater jumper. The Lions then chipped away at the EOU and forced a 23-all tie with 3:36 to play until halftime. A three-pointer from
Macie Elliott at the buzzer allowed the Mounties to take a 35-31 lead into the break.
• Coming out of the break with a 35-31 lead, EOU turned it on in the 2nd half outscoring the Lions 24-9 in the 3rd, shooting nearly 45% from 3-point land. Eastern limited the Lions to single digit points in both quarters which allowed them to cruise to the 29-point victory.
• A 10-2 run in the early of the third allowed the Mountaineers to open up their lead and get up 50-12. The run was a lengthy one in terms of minutes used and by the final minute of the third EOU had led by as much as 21. Going into the fourth the Mounties had the advantage at 59-40.
• Entering the fourth quarter the Mounties never looked back, holding the Lions to just six points while scoring 16 to coast to the 75-46 win. A 10-2 run to start the fourth allowed Eastern to open the lead even more as they went up 69-42. Multnomah mustered just four more points before succumbing to the 29-point defeat at home.

Taylor Stricklin had the hot hand shooting 6-8 from beyond the arc, contributing 18 to her game-high 20 points.

Jillian Albright had a double-double in the win, grabbing 10 rebounds and 10 points for the Mounties.

Beverly Slater also scored in double figures, finishing with 14 points and 7 rebounds.
For the Lions
• Maddie Hill led the Lions with 12 points on 4-13 shooting
• Alaygza Portis pulled down 12 boards in the efforts against the Mounties.
• Katie Skramstad chipped in nine points and finished 3-7 from the floor.

• Eastern Oregon's next scheduled games are set for April 2 and 3 as the team will hit the road again for more CCC action. The Mountaineers will be back in Portland, this time to take on Warner Pacific University. Friday's game time is set for 4 p.m. PT, while Saturday's game will tip-off at 1 p.m. PT.
