CALDWELL, Idaho – Eastern Oregon University Softball was tripped up on day one of its series against College of Idaho as the Mountaineers dropped a pair of shortened games on the day one to the Coyotes. Eastern fell 11-3 and 14-1 as both contests ended in five innings.
Game 1 – College of Idaho 11, Eastern Oregon 3 (5 Innings)
How it Happened
• The Yotes (17-7, 8-0 CCC) scored the majority of their runs in the fifth and final inning with seven. Going into the bottom half of the frame EOU trailed 4-3 before surrendering the seven runs. For the game, C of I had the edge in hits at 10-6.
• The Yotes got on the board in the bottom of the first inning. EOU managed to get two hits in the top half of the frame but made nothing of it. In the bottom of the first the Yotes managed to score the two runs on two hits and the help of two Mountaineer errors. The two EOU errors were the only ones of the game.
• The score remained 2-0 until the bottom of the third inning when C of I tacked on another run to go ahead 3-0. An RBI groundout by the Yotes allowed the leadoff runner to score and put the Yotes up by three after three innings of action.

• The Yotes were unable to score a run in the bottom half of the fourth and EOU was able to tie the game up in the top of the fifth.
Jordan Henley got on base as a strike three wild pitch before a Chambers single to center field allowed her to come in.
• Despite the ability to tie things up, EOU was unable to stop the Yotes offense in the bottom of the fifth as they tallied four hits to score seven unanswered for the walkoff win in five.
Mountaineers Stat Leaders
• Makenzi Chambers had the most hits for EOU going 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Makayla Mauger tallied two RBI in 1-2 at bat performance. She got the start in the circle as well and pitched 4.1 innings. She had one strikeout in the loss.

Jordan Henley went 1-3 and scored a run.
For the Yotes
• Trystin Crofts was 2-4 at the plate with three RBI and a run scored to lead the way.
• Haley Loffer was a perfect 3-3 in her at bats and scored three runs to go along with an RBI.
• Hannah Mcnerney picked up the win in the circle. She pitched four complete and fanned four batters.
• Annie Polster was credited the save as she closed out the final inning and had two strikeouts.
Game 2 – College of Idaho 14, Eastern Oregon 1 (5 Innings)
How it Happened
• The Yotes totaled 14 hits in the second contest and had multiple runs in the first three innings to secure the day one sweep. EOU managed just five hits in the contest for its lone run. The mountaineers committed two errors, while C of I had one.
• A leadoff home run to start the game got C of I in front 1-0 before an RBI base hit to third base scored the second run and put the Yotes up 2-0 after one inning. The Yotes then worked a 1-2-3 frame to get the bats back out and opened up the game with five runs scored in the bottom of the second.
• Five hits in the bottom of the second allowed the Yotes to plate home the five runs and go up 7-0. EOU scored its lone run in the top of the third. The lone error for C of I allowed the Mountaineers to score an unearned run. A two-out single from
Taylor Dow got her on base before an error by second base allowed to advance. She scored on a
Makenzie Chambers single to bring the score to 7-1.
• The Yotes final multiple run inning came in the bottom of the third as they scored six in the frame to open up their lead to 13-1. Six hits paired with an error by the Mountaineers allowed the five runs to score before EOU closed out the inning. Also helping C of I was a two-run homer to left field in the third.
• C of I scored its 14th and final run in the home half of the fourth to bring the score to it's a final of 14-1. An RBI single to left scored the one run for the Yotes as they secured the day one sweep and the conference series win.

• Kaily Christensen finished 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
• Annie Polster pitched a complete game in the win and had four strikeouts.

4 – The Mountaineers have now dropped each of its last four matchups to the Yotes.
