HELENA, Mont. – Eastern Oregon University Men's Soccer dropped a nail biter of a game as the team fell in the series finale to Carroll College, 1-0, in overtime on the road Monday afternoon. The loss drops the Mountaineers record to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
How it Happened
• Despite the score being so low, both teams took plenty of shots in the game but stout defense all around on both sides limited the contest to one goal. Carroll College (4-0, 4-0 CCC) had the edge at 15-12 and took nine shots on goal compared to three by Eastern.
• Defense was strong for both squads through the first 90 minutes of action. Offensively in the first frame, the Mountaineers took four shots with on coming on goal. The Saints managed to match the Mounties offensive output with four shots as well and had three come on goal.
• In the first period, EOU was able to get just one corner kick off while the Saints managed to have three corner kick opportunities. Eastern played a near clean first frame as the team had just one foul in that span, while Carroll had nine.
• Going into the second period defensive play continued to rule on the pitch. Both offenses picked up the tempo and doubled the numbers of shots they took. The Mountaineers put up eight, while the Saints had one more at nine.
• For Eastern, two of the team's eight shots came on goal, while Carroll had four come on goal. Defense had the edge though for the whole second period as the two squads were locked at a 0-0 tie going into overtime.
• The Saints scored the golden goal in the 91st minute to secure the win. A pass from the far left side got inside the penalty area before a shot from the right hit the low right corner of the net to end the game at 1-0.

• Goalkeeper Melle De Reuver had two saves in the win.
