WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Mountaineer Women's Wrestling wrapped up the final day of competition at the Patriot Duals against a pair of quality opponents. Eastern Oregon made the top tier bracket after going 4-1 on the first day but was 0-2 on day two to finish the weekend 4-3.

The Mountaineers took on the Tiffin University Dragons gold squad and the Brewton-Parker College Barons. Both squads proved to be formidable opponents as the Eastern was held under 15 points in both duals.

In the first bout, the Dragons won eight total matches to secure the 35-11 win. In the first half of the dual Tiffin won the first five bouts against Eastern, with just one win via forfeit. Tiffin put up 21 points through that span, while the Mountaineers managed just three to trail 21-3 at the midway point.

EOU's first of just two wins came from Krystal Fabricante at 136 pounds with a 12-2 tech fall, which brought the score to 21-7. Tiffin then won the final three of the four bouts to rack up the final 14 points for the win and had another forfeit as well. The second win for Eastern was by Olivia Robinson at 170 pounds. She put up a 6-1 decision to give the Mountaineers their final three points.

In the third place match of their bracket, Eastern fared a bit better against the Barons, but still fell by a final of 28-13. In the eight head-to-head bouts, the Barons secured wins in five and had a win come via forfeit to finish the day with six victories total. The first of three wins for the Mountaineers was at 116 pounds as Stephanie Blankenship scored an 8-0 decision. Through the first three bouts, Brewton-Parker had a slim 5-3 lead on the Mountaineers.

The Barons then won the next five match-ups with one being via a forfeit. They racked up 23 total points with the help of two tech falls and two falls. The run gave the Barons a 28-3 lead with two matches left. Eastern responded well as Dempsi Talkington and Olivia Robinson won the final two bouts, respectively. Talkington pinned her opponent in 53 seconds at 170 pounds, while Robinson finished the day 2-0 with a pin over her opponent in 18 seconds.

The Mountaineers will have some extended time off before returning to the mats. They will not be back in action until Jan. 14 and 15 for a pair of competitions. Eastern will face Grays Harbor College on Jan. 14 in a dual before competing in the Oregon Wrestling Classic on Jan. 15.
