Mountaineers Return to Idaho for Trio of Games

LA GRANDE, Ore. - Mountaineer Women's Basketball continues their Idaho tour this week with a trio of games, including the conference opener against a longtime rival. All three games for Eastern Oregon will be played in Caldwell.

Tip-Off
• The Mountaineers (2-4) will look to get back to the winner's circle when they head back to Idaho.
• Eastern is currently three games into its eight-game road trip and will also face a pair of opponents for a second time.
• The Mountaineers games vs. C of I will be their conference opener before closing out non-conference play against Simpson and Rocky Mountain.
• Following the trio of games, EOU will be back on the road next weekend to continue on with CCC play.

• The Mountaineers have won each of their last 15 games against the Yotes, dating back to 2015.
• EOU's games on Friday and Saturday are both against opponents they have faced already this season.
• Of the eight games away from home for Eastern, six are in the state of Idaho.

Last Time Out

• The Mountaineers are looking to rebound after a tough 73-70 loss against No. 24 Montana Western last Saturday.
• EOU shot 40% from the floor and was paced by a pair of double-digit scorers in Taylor Stricklin with 26 and Adyson Harris with 13. 

Previously Against This Week's Opponents
• Last season EOU and C of I only squared off once in a non-conference bout. Eastern was the victor scoring a 64-58 road win over the Yotes.
• All-time, EOU is 37-24 against the Yotes and is 35-11 against them under the direction of Anji Weissenfluh. In Caldwell, C of I has the series edge, 15-14.
• Eastern took down Simpson 88-62 in the season opening weekend on the road. Since 2013, The Mountaineers are 7-1 against the Red Hawks and are 1-0 in neutral site match-ups.
• Rocky held off EOU in OT, 75-68, earlier this month in a neutral site match-up. The Battlin' Bears are currently 1-1 against Eastern in two match-ups since 2016.

Cleaning Up the Boards
• Through six games this season, the Mountaineers have grabbed 40-plus rebounds in five.
• Eastern has out-rebounded  its opponents in five of its six games this season.
• EOU has grabbed 10-plus offensive boards in each of its last three games.
• The Mountaineers had a season best of 51 rebounds against William Jessup.

Individual Milestones
• Head Coach Anji Weissenfluh is two wins away from 480 for her career.
Macie Elliott needs just three more assists to reach 50 for her young career.
Taylor Stricklin needs just 15 more points to reach 100 for the season.
Adyson Harris is 21 points shy of reaching 100 for the season as well.

Scouting the Competition
College of Idaho Yotes

• The Yotes are 5-1 to start the season but are 0-1 on their home court. They have four road wins and one neutral site victory.
• Offensively, C of I is scoring 72.0 points per game on 441.% shooting. They are a 30.6% team from deep and dish out 14.7 assists per game.
• Defensively, the Yotes are holding opponents to 54.0 points per game on 32.9% shooting. They are limiting the opposition to 25.9% shooting from beyond the arc. The Yotes average 8.7 steals per game, 46.3 boards per game, and 3.0 blocked shots. 
• Sienna Riggle paces the offense to start at 13.5 points per game on 59.7% shooting. She is also the team leader in rebounds at 8.7 and has blocked seven shots.
• Lexi Mitchell is second in scoring at 12.5 points per game on 52.8% shooting. She is shooting 40% from deep and is second in rebounding at 8.3 per game. 
• Jada Reed is the team leader in assists with 26 to go along with a team-high 13 steals. She is averaging 7.0 points per game and shoots 44.7% from the field. 
• Kendee French is fourth in scoring at 8.8 points per game. She is also the second best shot blocker with six so far this season.

Simpson Red Hawks
• Simpson enters the weekend with a 1-7 overall record. The Red Hawks won their season opener but have dropped seventh straight since then.
• The Red Hawks average just 56.4 points per game on 38% shooting and are just shooting 28.8% from three-point range. 
• Defensively, Simpson is giving up 67.9 points per game and allowing opponents to shoot 44.3% on them. They average just 25.9 rebounds per game and 8.1 steals per game.
• Sandra Berrocal leads the offense with 11.4 points per game and is fourth in rebounding at 3.3 per game. She shoots 44.6% from the fk
• Breesia Northern is second in scoring at 10.9 points per game and shoots 41.9% from the floor. She also shoots 86.4% from the free throw line.
• Kelsie Graf leads the way in rebounding at 3.9 per game and chips in 3.4 points per game.
• Northern also leads the way in assists with 17. She is tied with Ariadna for the lead who also has 17. 

Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears
• The Battlin' Bears are 3-1 going into the weekend. Their lone loss was against Lewis-Clark State, 57-54.
• Rocky is averaging 72.8 points per game on 41.9% shooting and shoots 33% from deep. They dish out 15.5 assists per game.
• Defensively, the Battlin' Bears are limiting opponents to just 59.0points per game on 39.4% shooting. They hold opponents to 27.6% from deep and average 39.0 rebounds per game.
• N'Dea Flye leads the way in scoring at 18.5 points per game on 43.9% shooting. She is also leading the team in assists at 4.8 per game and 2.5 steals per game. Flye also leads the team in rebounds at 8.8 per game.
• Second in scoring is Shauna Bribiescas at 16.5 per game. She is a 54.3% shooter, 44% from beyond the arc, and is second in rebounding at 6.3 per game.
• Kloie Thatcher is the third leading scorer at 10.0 points per game. She shoots 35.9% overall and 30.4% from deep. She is fourth in boards at 3.8 per game.
• Mackenzie Dethman is the leading shot blocker at 2.0 per game. She is third in rebounding at 5.3 boards per game and scores 6.8 points per game.

Up Next
• The Mountaineers will get right back into CCC play the following weekend with a pair of road contests at Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech.
• Eastern will take on Southern on Friday, Dec. 3 with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m. The following day, Dec. 4, EOU and OIT will square off at 3 p.m.
