Mountaineers Back on the Hardwood Following Two Week Hiatus

LA GRANDE, Ore. - It's Thanksgiving week which means full plates and a full slate of games for Eastern Oregon Men's Basketball. The Mountaineers are back in action after a two-week hiatus with a conference opening game and three non-conference bouts, all of which will be on the road.

• The Mountaineers (3-1) will play four games this week, with three being in a span of three days.
• Eastern Oregon will play in its CCC opener on Tuesday when the team takes on I-84 rival College of Idaho.
• Following the four-game week, EOU will wrap up its nine-game road swing next week against two in-state conference foes.

Last Time Out

• The Mountaineers last played back on Nov. 9 at Idaho State in what was the team's final exhibition of the season.
• The Bengals had the edge over EOU with a final score of 82-61. Xavier Lovelace paced the Mountaineers with 16 points on 7-10 shooting.

Previous Against This Week's Opponents
• Last season, Eastern lost a road game against the Yotes 90-80 n the two teams lone match-up.
• Since 2012, EOU is just 5-17 against C of I and has dropped each of the last nine contests. The Yotes last fell to EOU back in 2016-17 in la Grande, 83-79.
• Eastern Oregon and William Jessup have met just one other time back in the 2016-17 season. EOU was the victor with a 94-85 win on the road.
• Menlo and Eastern also have met just one time back in 2016-17. EOU won by a final of 74-61 on the road.

Scouting the Competition
College of Idaho Coyotes

• C of I enters the Tuesday tilt with a 5-2 overall record and is currently ranked No. 18 in the latest NAIA top-25 rankings.
• The Yotes are averaging 69.1 points per game on 44.4% shooting. They shoot 32% from deep and are a 67.8% free throw shooting team.
• Defensively, C of I is holding teams to 65.0 points per game on 41.6% shooting. They average 39.4 rebounds per game and force 10-.9 turnovers per game.
• Early on, Ricardo Time is the leading scorer at 10.9 points per game. He is shooting 41.5% from the field and grabs 5.3 boards per game. He also shoots 92.3% from the free throw line.
• Second in scoring is Derek Wadsworth at 9.3 per game and is a 48.9% shooter. He is also shooting 43.3% from deep and has 13 assists this season.
• Drew Wyman is third in scoring at 9.1 points per game. He is third in rebounding at 5.0 per game and shoots 46.4% from the floor.
• Jake O'Neil is the leader in rebounds at 5.7 per game. He is fourth on the team in scoring at 7.4 points per game and is a 42.6% shooter. 
• Paul Wilson has been the go ot rim protector with 10 blocks on the year. He is shooting 54.5% from the field and averages 4.3 points per game.
• Time also leads the way in assists with 17 on the year. Right behind him with 16 assists is Charles Ezlie.

William Jessup Warriors
• The Warriors are off to a 7-1 start on the year. They already have two conference games under their belt and are 1-1. They also have two top-25 wins bth coming against No. 13 Oregon Tech.
• Offensively, WJU is averaging 79.6 points per game on 47.8% shooting. They are shooting 33.9% from deep and dish out 13.3 assists per game.
• On defense, the Warriors are giving up 73.9 points per game and are allowing opponents to shoot 43.6% overall. They grab 37.3 rebounds per game.
• Cashemin Williams is leading three double-digit scores with 14.9 per game. He shoots 51.7% from the floor and is a 75.9% free throw shooter.
• Second leading scorer Myles Corey is averaging 14.5 points per game. He is a 47.7% shooter and is shooting 36.8% from deep. 
• Third in scoring is Matthew Schmidt at 12.3 per game. He is the leader in field goal percentage at 66.2. He leads the way in rebounding at 6.0 per game.
• Second in rebounding in Charlie Garrison at 5.7 per game. Behind him in third is Tim Strijaous at 5.6.
• Williams and Cory have been the floor generals in terms of dishing out assists. Williams is the leader at 4.4 per game, followed by Corey at 2.0.

Menlo College Oaks
• The Oaks are undefeated through eight games played this year at 8-0 and are off to a 2-0 start in conference play. One win was by way of forfeit.
• Offensively, the Oaks average 77.3 points per game and shoot 44.7% from the floor. They are a 32.8% three-point shooting team and dish out 14.0 assists per game.
• Defensively, Menlo is holding opponents to just 53.9 points per game on 34.2% shooting. They average 6.6 steals per game and 45.7 rebounds per game.
• Corey Le'aupepe is the leading scorer at 13.1 points per game. He is an 80.6 % free throw shooter. He also averages 5.9 rebounds per game which is second on the team.
• N'jai LeBlanc is second in scoring at 13.1 points per game and is shooting 62.3% from the floor. He is a 72.2% free throw shooter and averages 1.1 steals per game.
• Parker Haven is the third leading scorer at 10.1 points per game. He shoots 54.5% overall and is the team leader in rebounds at 6.7 per game. He also averages 1.4 blocked shots per game.
• Khalid Price leads the way in assists with 3.19 per game and is grabbing 3.0 rebounds per game. 

Cal Maritime Keelhaulers
• The Keelhaulers are 2-3 going into the week> they have picked up wins against Pacific Union and Bethesda.
• Offensively, the Keelhaulers are averaging 69.8 points per game and shoot 41.3% from the floor. They shoot jst 25.4% from deep and are a 70.6% free throw shooting team. 
• Defensively, Cal Maritime are giving up 73.8 points per game, but hold opponents to 36.3% shooting from the field and 26.5% from deep.
• Eric Norton paces the offense at 17.5 points per game and is shooting 50% from the floor. He is averaging 5.8 rebounds per game which also leads the team.
• Tied for second in scoring is Amil Fields and Miles Pennington at 10.4 points per game, respectively.
• Fields is a 38.7% three-point shooter and is averaging 4.0 boards per game. Pennington shots 63.6% overall and is second in rebounding at 5.4 per game. 
• Divine Nwoko is the fourth leading scorer at 10.1 points per game to round out the double figure scoring. He is a 40.4% shooter and is tied for second in rebounds at 5.4 per game.
• Braxton Adderly is the top assist man for Cal Maritime at 2.4 per game. She also averages 9.8 points per game.

Up Next
• The Mountaineers will get right back into CCC play the following weekend with a pair of road contests at Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech.
• Eastern will take on Southern on Friday, Dec. 3 with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The following day, Dec. 4, EOU and OIT will square off at 5 p.m.
