LEWISTON, Idaho - Mountaineer Women's Basketball dropped its third game in a row Saturday afternoon as they dropped a close contest, 76-73, against Montana Tech. With the loss, EOU is now 2-3 on the year.
How it Happened
• Helping the Orediggers (4-3) secure the win was a defensive effort that held EOU to just 35.1% shooting, while their offense shot 44.9% from the floor.
• The Mountaineers had the edge in points in the paint, 34-28, but the rebounding battle was barely won by Montana Tech at 46-45.
• The first quarter was a high-scoring one as the two squads combined for 38 points. The Oredigers led 20-18 after the first frame.Â
• In the first, the Mountaineers got five points from
Taylor Stricklin, while
Sailor Liefke and
Adyson Harris each scored four.
• In the second, the Orediggers managed to outscore the Mounties once again at 14-10 to lead 34-28 at the break. Harris led the way for EOU with four points to have eight at the break.
• In the early going of the third quarter, the Orediggers managed to jump ahead by 14 in the first three minutes of play.
• Montana Tech held a double-digit lead through the majority of the third quarter and led by as much as 20 in the later half of the frame.
• After being outscored 24-17 in the third, Eastern put together its best scoring performance of the day in the fourth. They outscored Montana Tech 28-18 for the near comeback win.
• Helping the Mounties nearly come from behind was Harris who scored nine in the third and added another six in the fourth.Â
• The Mountaineers got within seven points a handful of times throughout the fourth, but each time the Orediggers had a response.Â
• In the final minute, EOU got a pair of layups from Harris that brought the score to its final of 76-73. EOU looked to extend clock time but the Orediggers ultimately held on for the win.
Mountaineers Stat Leaders

Adyson Harris led all scorers with 23 points on 9-19 shooting and had eight rebounds.

Sailor Liefke scored 15 points 5-14 made shots and dished out five assists.

Maddy Juul led the way in rebounding with 10 and chipped in eight points.
•
Taylor Stricklin had nine points in the loss.
For the Orediggers
• Brooke Heggie scored 13 points to lead Montana Tech and grabbed seven rebounds.
• Tavia Rooney had a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
• Dani Urick also added 12 points in the win.
• Mollie Peoples and McKayla Kloker each chipped in 10 points.
